"The Trap" offered a great mix of twists and drama, with a lot oft he episode hinging on Dr. Wells and his mysterious goals. He interrupts before she tells him who he is the founding member of...in addition to The Flash. Through a series of events, Harrison gets shot. Is The Flash Renewed or Cancelled for Season 2? If they ever actually kill off Cisco I anticipate a ratings plummet. After a couple of episodes where the narrative engine stalled out, "The Trap" revs the show back up to top speed as we approach the season's finish line. With the new information, Barry finally confesses to Joe (Jesse Martin), Eddie (Rick Cosnett), Cisco and Caitlin that he has already time-traveled. At his hideout, Wells tells Eddie his real name and discloses that the two were distant relatives. Barry, Cisco and Caitlin are in Gideon's room. Eddie wonders if it's all about him, but Eobard says he's merely his insurance policy. Meanwhile, Eddie makes a decision regarding Iris, which unsettles Joe.

Things go south when Dr. Wells uses the villain from last week---a shapeshifter---to play the part of Wells and expose the group. I mentioned this previously, but a part of me wishes none of the good guys had figured out Wells' secret identity just yet. You need to move your arms faster! The little electric shock she gets in the flashback, mirrored later when the Flash takes off after the Reverse Flash, is a nice way to clue her into Barry's identity.
We got some nice backstory, and saw a much more endearing Iris than we've come to expect. Now, Barry has become a brilliant, driven and endearingly geeky CSI investigator, whose determination to uncover the truth about his mother's strange death leads him to follow up on every unexplained urban legend and scientific advancement that comes along. Then again, I anticipate problems if they kill off Wells.

In "The Trap," we finally get a glimpse at the cards the writers have been tightly clutching to their chest for 19 episodes, and the early returns are outstanding. "The Trap" played out exactly like it should have as all season Team Flash has been several steps behind Wells and now that his secret is out, Harrison Wells will prove even more dangerous.
Gideon appears to be gone. He's been recording them the entire time, while setting up a plot of his own. Lots of great moments peppered the episode, from their near discovery in Wells' secret chamber, to just about every flashback from Joe, Iris, and Wells himself. Joe says no, and a disappointed Eddie asks Barry to find out why Joe refused.

Barry now has a renewed purpose - using his gift of speed to protect the innocent, while never giving up on his quest to solve his mother's hug and clear his father's name.
